General Questions
Do you have a registry?
We don’t have a registry. William and I have been living together and have everything we need for our home. Since we don’t live in Toronto, physical gifts will also be difficult to bring back with us. Your presence at our wedding is truly the greatest gift, but if you would like to honor us with a gift, we kindly ask for cash.
Are children welcome?
We kindly ask that only the guests listed on your invitation attend. While we love your little ones, we’re keeping the celebration adults-only unless children are specifically included on your invite. Thank you so much for understanding!
The Ceremony
How long will the ceremony be?
The Mass will begin promptly at 3pm and last about an hour. We ask that you plan to arrive at the church for 2:30pm to ensure you are parked and seated.
What should I wear for a Catholic church ceremony?
The church has requested that guests follow their general attire guidelines which is modest a.k.a shoulders covered. We suggest bringing a shawl or wrap for the service if your outfit is strapless. Also remember that June in Toronto can still be chilly so you might need this for the evening anyways!!
I’m not Catholic — can I attend the ceremony, and what should I know about participating in the ceremony?
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome to join us for our wedding Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. If you’re not Catholic, you’re welcome to simply respectfully observe or join in the standing/sitting/kneeling as you feel comfortable. Communion is for those that have received the Sacrament of Communion, but you’re welcome to either remain seated or come forward for a blessing by simply crossing your arms across your chest.
What should I do during the gap between the ceremony and the reception?
Immediate family will be asked to stick around for some photos!
We’ll have about 1 hour between the ceremony and the reception. The venue is 30 minutes from the church, but Toronto traffic can be unpredictable, so plan a little extra travel time.
If you arrive downtown early, you’ll find plenty of cafés, bars, and shops within walking distance.
Transportation
Will transportation be provided from the ceremony to reception?
Transportation is on your own. Uber, Lyft, the TTC subway, and personal car are all easy ways to get around. There will be parking available at the church and paid city parking at the reception.
If you opt for the subway, it’s super easy!!! Royal York Station is about a 5 minute walk from the church, and King Station is about a 3 minute walk to the restaurant.
Is there parking at the church?
Yes! The church does have its own private lot that should accomadate all guests. There is also plenty of hourly parking available on Bloor Street.
Is there parking at the reception?
Underground parking will be available at the reception venue, but we encourage everyone to drive safely and consider using Uber, Lyft, or other rideshare options — especially if you plan to enjoy a drink (or two).
The parking facility is called Commerce Court Underground Parking Facility on the north side of Wellington: 18 Wellington St. W.. If you park in this lot (and only in this lot) you will be able to validate your parking ticket at the reception. Please remember to do so before you leave!
The underground parking lot entrance is just before the entrance to Jump, on the north side of Wellington, between Yonge and Bay Street. Once you have turned onto Wellington Street, it is a quick right. At the bottom of the ramp, follow the signs to “E” parking. The elevator is closest to
P1 E rows 8, 9 and 10.
Once in the designated area, please bring your parking ticket with you and go up the elevator to the concourse level. Proceed forward and through the doors. Jump Café & Bar is on your right.
Parking is $2/car after 3 :00 pm on Saturdays & Sundays. Upon departing please have your parking ticket stamped by one of the staff members.
The Reception
What is the dress code for the reception?
Attire is formal! Dress to impress! Suits and ties, cocktail dresses, or long gowns are perfect. It's not black tie, but please, no jeans or casual wear — it’s a wedding, after all!
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
We will be asking about any dietary restrictions during the RSVP process. Guests will be able to select their main entrée at the reception. However, just to be safe, if you have any dietary restrictions, simply let your server know and they’ll be happy to accommodate.
